Cambodia Holidays

About Cambodia

For a holiday with beautiful landscapes, plentiful history & culture and an abundance of things to see and do, why not spend your holidays in Cambodia? Cambodia is situated between Laos, Thailand and Vietnam in the southeast of Asia. Re-emerging from darker times, Cambodia is fast becoming one of Asia’s most popular tourist destinations. With a world of heritage and culture to discover set in a stunning landscape of lakes, forested mountains and verdant plains, a holiday in Cambodia is an experience that will move and exhilarate.

Cambodia History & Culture

Years of war and bloodshed have left Cambodia with a rich if somewhat turbulent history. The murderous regime of the Khmer Rouge certainly left its mark and there is much to uncover for the not too faint hearted. It has only been in the past two decades that stability was sufficiently restored to allow the Cambodians to invite visitors to enjoy holidays in their enthralling country.

Scenic Cambodia Holidays

Aside from Cambodia’s trail of history, there are many other wonders to experience during your holidays in this fascinating country. Tropical jungle scenery and stunning natural beauty abound here in Cambodia and provide an exciting backdrop to the colourful Cambodian way of life. The mountains around Banlung have been the age old home to many hill tribes living simply and peacefully on the land; and the unspoilt countryside throughout Cambodia is breathtakingly beautiful. The Cambodians are friendly, welcoming and eager to share their country’s secrets of luxury, beauty, culture and intrigue.

Cambodia - Places of Interest

Phnom Penh, the picturesque capital of Cambodia, is a network of French colonial architecture housing a vibrant atmosphere of energy and excitement. The main area for a bustling holiday is along the city’s river front boulevard which is lined with lively cafes, restaurants and bars. For a more peaceful ambience, visit the magnificent Angkor Wat Archaeological Site in Siem Reap. Rising from the density of the jungle, Angkor Wat is a stunning collection of Ancient Khmer ruins dating back over a 1000 years. The temple complex will amaze you with its archaic statues, ornate carvings and sheer majesty - a must see experience for any holiday maker. Truly authentic and a wonderful experience is a cruise on the Tonle Sap Lake. Floating villages and traders will pass you by as you relax on the mesmerizing waters. Holidays in Cambodia are sure to open your eyes in a wonderful journey of cultural discovery.

Cambodia Holiday Activities

There are many ways to make the most of your holidays here in Cambodia. For those interested in the shadowy past, the horror of the Khmer Regime can be relived in the Killing Field Museum which is set in an old Khmer Rouge torture chamber. Cambodia deals not only in the horrors of the past, there are also many other wonderful sights of natural beauty and culture to take in.

For a touch of local culture on your Cambodia holidays, you may wish to appreciate the scenery with a traditional elephant trek around the beautiful landscape of Mondulkiri or a visit to the Prek Toal Nature Reserve to see the colourful birds and wildlife. For a true feeling of nature, go for a rejuvenating swim in the jungle fringed volcanic lake nestled in the rain forest near Banlung Town. With the fascinating gem mines in Rattanakiri, river cruises along the rustic Tonle Sap and the magnificent ruins of Angkor Wat, a holiday to Cambodia encompasses a world of wonder just waiting to be discovered.
